Mark you calendars for LGBTQI Life's second annual ALLY Days!

Here is a list of the events happening for Ally Days at Vanderbilt.

ILENS Film Showing of “Brother Outsider”
Wednesday February 19th @ Sarratt Cinema
BROTHER OUTSIDER has introduced millions of viewers around the world to the life and work of Bayard Rustin — a visionary strategist and activist who has been called “the unknown hero” of the civil rights movement. A disciple of Gandhi, a mentor to Martin Luther King Jr., and the architect of the 1963 March on Washington, Rustin dared to live as an openly gay man during the fiercely homophobic 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.  Event sponsored by ILENS, Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center & LGBTQI Life

Ally Photo Booth
Monday, February 24th & Friday, February 28th 11:00am-1:00pm Sarratt Promenade
Come show your support as an ALLY of the LGBTQI Community by taking a Ally Photo with your friends!  You can showcase why you choose to be an Ally everyday!  Free prints of your photos will be available!

Kitchen Table Series: Trans* @ VU
Monday, February 24th 5:00pm @ Sarratt 325/327
The Kitchen Table Series is a student-designed program intended to reach across campus to highlight current gender issues and how they impact different communities. This program came to fruition because students wanted the space to talk about important issues in an informal and relaxed space.  For Ally Days we will be discussing the new resource Trans* @ VU.  Event sponsored by The Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center.

Safe Zone Training
Tuesday February 25th 5pm
The Safe Zone program aims to create a visible network of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI) individuals and their allies by providing an avenue through which any member of the Vanderbilt Community can show their support.  To register for Safe Zone training please visit http://www.vanderbilt.edu/lgbtqi/programs/safe-zone

Lambda General Body Meeting- Ally Week
Tuesday February 25th 8pm @ K.C. Potter Center

Book Discussion: Time on Two Crosses: The Collected Writings of Bayard Rustin
Thursday February 27th 7:30pm-9:00pm @ The Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center
Time on Two Crosses showcases the extraordinary career of this black gay civil rights pioneer. Spanning five decades, the book combines classic texts ranging in topic from Gandhi’s impact on African Americans, white supremacists in Congress, the antiwar movement, and the assassination of Malcolm X, with never-before published selections on the call for gay rights, Louis Farrakhan, affirmative action, AIDS, and women’s rights. Also included are twenty-five photos from the Rustin estate.
