Description

Join in this Narrative 4 story exchange that will bring VU students together from wherever they are in the world! We especially welcome international students who are studying remotely or who are on campus. Narrative 4 (“N4 Vandy”) harnesses the power of the story exchange to build connections, understanding, and empathy in the VU community while eradicating divisions, barriers and racism.

In a story exchange, each person shares a 5-7 minute story from their life with a random partner in a zoom breakout room. After pairs have shared stories with each other, we move into small groups and each person retells their partner's story in the first person. In this way, we step into another individual's shoes for a few minutes to try to better understand their perspective and why they feel as they do. We honor each other's stories by keeping them private. The stories that are graciously shared with us are not ours to keep; we give them back to the person who shared them and take what we have learned with us! This is a great way to meet new friends and make connections.
